The Ballad of Republican Fuck-ups or: How to Lay Down a Good Smokescreen

Let’s start this thing

, U.S. Senator from Pennsylvania.

With the tone-deaf right wing

Holding their “hearing” on women

An all male panel

Of men who all channel

A time when all life was still swimmin’

Then the cartoon – named Foster Freiss

Says an “aspirin between the knees”

Worked as birth control before – lot’s of luck

He’s the backer of Santorum

Writes lots of checks for ‘im

Another 17th century schmuck

Next up’s Mitt the dim

Drives around Michigan

Yammering “the trees are the right height”

Hey Mitt, get a clue

Nothing’s higher than you

Have a few more martinis tonight

He loves “big lakes and little

And the lakes in the middle”

Oh yes – and he also “loves cars”

And shit, he’s not joking

Mitt what are you smoking

You sound like you’re someone from Mars

But now back to Rick

Who’s missed a few ticks

In his clock which stopped way, way back when

We all lived in caves

Women lived lives of slaves

And by God he’ll drag us back there again

And hear Ricky roar

About going to war

With Iran – a real “Christian” crusader

This sweater clad nit

This delusional git

This shit thinks he’s the new terminator

Oh wait here come Palin

Who isn’t through nailin’

Down her place in the pantheon of putz

Who thinks maybe she

Will be the VP

Holy shit, are these people this nuts?

Yes they’re so proud by gum

To be so fucking numb

And clueless why we LOL

Oh yeah, they’re “severe”

“Severely” not all here

And “severely” as delusional as hell

These are people without

A shred of a doubt

That the sword is the way not the pen

They are cold and proud of it

And they’re gonna shove it

Down everyone’s throats – say amen

To them power is crack

And we better push back

Or be ground by their jackboots to dirt

While they de-fund the schools

Procreate lots more fools

Even worse than these current brown shirts

But know that they act thus

To simply distract us

From the issues that should make us madder

Jobs and lack of same

Jobs and their other game

Redistricting so our votes just don’t matter

  1. You are on a role with the political poems. Very entertaining.

  2. This is the culmination of some really well-engineered plans to take over state level politics. The new Southern Strategy. They definitely know how to push the hot buttons of people who feel so frustrated, but find it easier to blame the other victims (the poor and working classes) than to blame the perpetrators of the crimes.

Your Ballad is another masterpiece of cutting satire and wit.

  3. You nailed it again, Tony. When I saw the guy make the ‘aspirin’ comment (and chuckle about it) I shuddered at his gall and stupidity. It’s beginning to feel like we’re living in an episode of “The Twilight Zone.”

    • yes, it seems like an ongoing twilight zone episode doesn’t it? every day something crazier than the day before. i only hope this is speaking some sense to these “undecideds” (are they really?) thanks as always for reading and commenting Re. continue…

  6. Uhm, is holding an aspirin between your knees like that game when you pass an orange to your partner from chin to chin? You hold it so tight so it won’t drop? What the fuck is he talking about?
Thanks for yet another brilliant piece on the not so brilliant right.

  7. Wow, Tony, you’ve absolutely nailed it again! I’m thinking, What the hell could they possibly be thinking? Don’t they know that we have to outnumber them in a wedge issue like contraception. So how they possibly think that’s a winning strategy? Although I never underestimate the power of the politics of distraction I just didn’t see how it worked in this case. The numbers are too great on our side. But of course, they’re going to redistrict out the whazoo and disenfranchise voters galore–and all the while we’re thinking we’ll fix them at the ballot box. But I fear you’re right again–they planning on making our votes just not count.

However, I think we should all look to Wisconsin for inspiration. They took their fury and channeled it into ant-like cooperative endeavors and just keep on keepin’ on. And so far they have cleared every hurdle, however incrementally.
We must focus like lasers, now more than ever!

    Thanks again!

  8. I just realized after reading this that there hasn’t been any noise from Newt of late.
Masterful summary of the current state of the union!
Sadly, I can’t understand why there isn’t larger outcry against them, or how so many seem to agree. Are they just more vocal? Or (and this scares me) are there more of them than us?
I also wonder what will happen when whichever jackass gets the tiara has to move to the middle to actually try and win the election…

Of course, if that causes Grover to have an apoplexy driven heart attack, maybe it wouldn’t be all that bad…

  9. And “severely” delusional as hell. Now there’s understatement, of the whackiness of these smug assholes.

Santorum would love us all to be living like neanderthals, while at the same time dropping nuclear warheads on Iran, and any other country he feels fit to blow the fuck out of…
