So I ask once again what’s obscene
What is filth, what is dirt, what’s unclean?
A ballplayer’s on trial
While the vilest of vile
Live in high style on our TV screen
So let me ask just one more time
Is this now the new paradigm?
Do we now let real villains
Who did some real killin’
Go free for this most heinous crime?
Yes, Bush and Dick are who I mean

As for Bush and Cheney, you are right. They are war criminals, along with Condi and Rumsfeld. But they did it with our permission. If there had been a draft with no deferments allowed – the war would have lasted less than a year or wouldn’t have happened at all. Even with that said, it took 58,000 deaths and a million plus Vietnamese deaths before that war stopped. When I contemplate all this, I have to wonder if my ideas about this country are simply the result of years of denial. Can we keep saying, “But we’re the good guys?” If we are the good guys, by what metrics are we good? Our health care system ranks well below other countries. Our infant mortality rate is shockingly high. Our per capita charitable giving rate is way below other countries. We spend more on our pets than we do on helping poor people escaping from the poverty cycle. But we’re definitely the best at saying “We’re the best!”

This was so good.
Spent the day from Truckee, actually Donner Pass (are you hungry? want some dinner? How about YOU?) to Carson City (our state’s capitol where prostitution and all else that is Nevada is five minutes away legally… but there too. Oh and our governor has been caught on at least three different occasions with hookers… and has spent less than 10 days a year in the capitol seat) looking for a cheap-ass RV. Me.
