It is jaw-dropping that this person Trump, who has no interest or knowledge of world affairs – or desire to learn same – is willing to take this country, and by extension, the world, down the garden path in order to satisfy his narcissistic needs and over weening sick ego. A person who, in his feverishly warped mind, thinks that he is bigger than what is at stake.
His press conference yesterday afternoon was a display by someone who appears delusional. I say appears because he knows exactly what he is doing. That is how horrible a person this poor excuse for a human is. Someone who would stoop to anything including stoking the fears of the weak minded to “win.” This is what demagogues do. Someone who is a world-class pathological liar. Someone who seems borderline psychotic. Someone who should be laughed out of this election – and maybe this country. Someone who, at the very least, should be shunned as a societal leper. He is Mussolini with a comb-over.
It is equally jaw-dropping that any American political party would see fit to nominate such an apparently unhinged person to the highest office in the land. The Republican Party has, in the past, nominated some eminently unqualified people. But, the nomination of Donald J. Trump is, by far, the most cynical, most shameful, most dangerous in our long history. It is a stain on Republicans that will take many decades to wash away if, in fact, it will ever be washed away. After all these years, all these centuries, we still speak of Hitler, of Caligula, of Attila The Hun…it’s entirely possible that the name Trump may soon take its deserved place in history echoing down the years alongside the world’s most reviled pariahs.
Also jaw-dropping is the Republican suspension of belief in extolling the “virtues,” (I can’t believe I am using this word in the same paragraph as this person’s name), the “virtues” of this egotistical braggart. This sad thin-skinned petulant little boy. This insecure bully. This pathological liar. This racist. This self-absorbed narcissist. This cynical sociopath – a diagnosis corroborated by medical people who have studied and written about Trump’s words and actions. Witness his encouraging violence against protestors and making fun of the mentally challenged
This is a person running for the office of President of The United States of America who is currently being sued for fraud by over 5,000 people in New York, plus being sued in two other class-action suits in California! This is a criminal! And this ugly unstable cartoon figure is the person the Republican Party sees fit to nominate for the highest office in the land – and the leader of the free world??? This person is clearly the single worst candidate to ever run for President in our country’s history – by far.
This braying jackass actually said yesterday at his me, me, me, I, I, I, press conference; “I think President Obama has been the most ignorant president in our history.” That is a direct quote. When I heard him say this I actually laughed out loud – and then cursed at my innocent messenger – the TV. President Obama’s elegant eloquence last night stands in stark contrast to the uninformed ignorance proudly paraded by this jerk.
I am certain that, at all times, Trump knows exactly what he is saying. What discord he is fomenting. Trump knows that this statement about President Obama is ridiculous, but he said it because he knew it would get a headline and that is the kind of despicable cynical lie which, coupled with the reality that he is running for President, makes him far worse, far more evil and far more dangerous than your average garden variety con man.
If the definition of insanity is, as the dictionary defines it; a derangement of the mind, Donald Trump is insane.
And sadly, so is the Republican Party.

You’ve said it all so well, Tony. I thought I would lose my mind yesterday as The Big Baby tried to steal headlines by soliciting Russian hackers to help him win an election.
On the other side, the Bernie supporters who “trust” Bernie about everything, except the urgency of Hillary over Donald (the importance of considering the numbers before casting our votes) have been scaring the living hell out of me. If we can’t get them to understand that her not being their first choice doesn’t make her a horrible choice, then Trump could win.
I knew that we lived in strange times where masses of people actually hate the idea of learning and doing research with varied and reliable sources, but I feel so naive now to know that there are enough stubborn and/or hate-filled people to elect a dangerous, dictatorial, asshole to be president of our country. I agree with you about the stark contrast of President Obama’s speech to anything ever said by the ugly-at-heart, infantile Trump. But the people who hate President Obama are racists who don’t listen, so I’m still scared.
