WHAT IS WRONG WITH US?

When Nazis marched in Charlottesville, Virginia, Donald Trump said there were some “very fine people on both sides.” And Republicans stood with him! When he was shown on video saying of women, “when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything…Grab ’em by the pussy. You can do anything,” Republicans stood by him! Of war hero John McCain, Trump said, “He’s not a war hero. He’s a war hero because he was captured. I like people that weren’t captured,” and Republicans stood by him!

When he mocked a disabled reporter, praised the likes of dictators Benito Mussolini, Vladimir Putin, Rodrigo Duterte, Kim Jong Un, and Recep Erdogan, of whom he said, “It’s my honor to be with a friend of mine, somebody I’ve become very close to, in many respects, and he’s doing a very good job: the President of Turkey,” Republicans stood with him.

When he pardoned Blackwater contractors who massacred innocent Iraqi women and children, threatened to veto Coronavirus relief, mocked the wearing of masks, failed to institute a travel ban, failed to distribute more than half of the available vaccines, all of which led to the deaths of over 400,000 people, and when he repeatedly abused the powers of the Presidency, Republicans stood with him!

And though he was found by the House Jan 6th Committee to have incited the January 6th attack on the capitol, and has called these rioters, “patriots,” and has said he will pardon them if elected, and while he steadfastly refuses to this day to admit he lost the election, Republicans still stand with him!

What is wrong with us? With Democrats? Joe Biden has one bad debate! One! And not the decade long litany of lies, scandals, mismanagement, and criminality on Donald Trump’s part that has led to his being indicted, and his allies being jailed. And we are we scurrying away from a damn good President like roaches when the light is turned on??? From one debate? Why are we panicking? Why are we succumbing to the alarms of the so-called “pundits?” It is early. Haven’t we learned that the American public’s views change from week to week according to the last things they hear? Why are we now turning our backs on a good man and allowing the most vile among us a wider path to power?

Yes, Biden’s old. But a president is only as good as the people around him.

A president’s decisions are made with the input of his cabinet, his closest advisors. President Biden may be old physically, however his decision-making abilities are still sharp, and his advisors are smart, and vital. Contrast this with the people Donald Trump will surround himself with. These people are practically Fascists. And Trump and this “cabinet” will be following the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025. It saddens me to see us falling prey to the short-sighted PR people of the media. I can’t believe I am advocating this, but, in this one instance, we must be more like the Republican Party.
