A New Year’s Ballad To The Evangelical “Values” Voters of America – and the World

Happy Face of HateI don’t mind what you believe in

‘Cept the folks you back are thievin’

I don’t mind your faith in Jesus

Jesus never tried to squeeze us

I don’t care you wear religion

Like a coat – don’t care a smidgeon

‘N if you wanna sin on Sunday

Go to church and pray on Monday

It’s your business if you do

That’s between your God and you

Or if you cheat to be a winner

Laugh about it over dinner

Take confession, say a prayer

For forgiveness – I don’t care

And if you like to have gay sex

Even kinky three-way sex

Get whipped, and handcuffed, bound and gagged

Even peed on and tea bagged

Enjoy bukake even frottage

Go home to your lovely cottage

Read your bible and pretend

You’re no freak – okay my friend

See – I don’t care which way you swing

Many don’t – but here’s the thing

When you start in calling others

Godless and the Devil’s brothers

Acting holier than thou

Pointing fingers, raising brow

(Annoying at the very least)

As if you were some kind of priest

And preaching it’s your way or none

That’s the moment you become

A fucking pain in all our butts

A joke, a sad deluded putz

Who never stops for just one sec

To even ponder what the heck

If I really do believe

And I know when I deceive

That God above sees all I do

Is it then essentially true

(Now this is merely a suggestion

But perhaps should you then question)

That when death takes me shall I dwell

For all eternity in hell?

I’m just askin’.

  1. What a great deboning of the hypocrisy and personal meddling. I do not understand how their minds works.

  2. Nice piece Tony. Sums up my feelings exactly. Although I may have been a bit harsher, but it’s my nature (said the Scorpio).
People forget so easily all of their false prophets, Sorry meant corrupt god fearing politicians -they both start with ‘P’-, and their past transgressions.
So they put them up for election. Again.
    God bless America

  3. It would be nice if they would answer — honestly. But I know many of them can’t see the truth, and the others won’t.

  4. Well said – I think so many forget that all is visible from above; what they “get away with” down here is not a free pass for long! Taking this opportunity to say Im looking forward to your take on Iowa …..

  5. Right in my wheelhouse, sir. I know preaching to the converted isn’t that interesting, but I do feel less alone in this bizarre world when I read it, so thank you.

  6. Beautifully put.
I think a lot of the lower downs (as opposed perhaps to the higher ups) firmly embrace and believe their own rhetoric.
