Because when the senate votes against it;
1. Trump will dine out on the nonsense that this “vindicates” him.
2. He will spin this to make him a victim…a martyr.
3. And because of reasons 1. and 2. he could possibly get re-elected. So…
THIS IS ALL ABOUT PERCEPTION. SO INSTEAD:
The House should continue to issue subpoenas and hold as many hearings
as possible in order to bring the facts of Trump’s criminality to the public at
large. When the White house ignores the subpoenas the Democrats must
use this behavior as continuing evidence that Trump is hiding the truth…or
obstructing justice. The House must also continue to try to get Trump’s
financial records. New York State will get his tax records. Trump will no
doubt continue to run roughshod over our Constitution – further evidence
in the public’s eyes of his malfeasance. Remember; THIS IS ALL ABOUT
PUBLIC PERCEPTION.
Again, I reiterate; Trump should be impeached, but the fact is he is
able to spin lies out of truths, and that his ensuing PR effort claiming proof
of innocence owing to vindication by the Senate will will poison the
public’s opinion in his favor – and the public must be on board to rid
ourselves of him – and that the Senate, thanks to Mitch McConnell and the
Republicans, will not vote to impeach, makes impeachment a counter-
productive move. It must be hammered home repeatedly that the
Republican Senate is the ONLY reason that Trump is not being impeached.
Nancy Pelosi is right. Forget impeachment and concentrate on bringing
all the facts of Trump’s crimes to the public.
And most importantly;
It must be clearly explained to the American people that for all these
reasons above impeachment, while warranted, is futile. And that
subpoenas, hearings, and the 2020 vote is the only way to rid ourselves of
this cancer in our system.

McConnell’s wife is on Trump’s cabinet. That’s one reason that Mitch will protect Trump, among many others. I agree with you, Tony, forget trying to impeach the bastard, because not what happens, Trump would put more spins on it, than whirling dervish.
